Why Wrestling?
Independence & Self Accountability
Wrestling fosters an athlete’s independence and self accountability like no other. In other high school sports, such as rugby, basketball, or soccer, you have a team to rely on. Teammates can either bring you up, or bring you down, but in the end, there is always somebody to rely on. This is not the case in wrestling, it is just you and your opponent: no help, no reliance, no dependency. This teaches athletes, young ones especially, the importance of independence and self accountability. It shows the athletes by example that the result you get back is directly dependent on the work you put in. If you win, all of the praise is on you, and likewise, if you lose, there is no one to blame except yourself.
